ECA graduate specialising in 'masculine womenswear' and tailoring.
I'm Olivia Soppitt, a Edinburgh College of Art 2023 gradate. I am a womenswear designer specialising in tailoring and 'masculine womenswear'. The basis of my graduate collection has focused on silhouette and keeping my muse at the heart of my work to produce bold designs, to help create empowerment when worn.
I have been ofered the opportunity and have worked in industry alongside my degree for the final two years. I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge through working within a luxury womenswear brand and ethical manufacturing company as an in house designer alongside my studies.
INSPIRATION
"Like a Glove"
My graduate collection began from exploring a range of themes, each of which are a passion of mine. These themes have grown from my family heritage, helping to uncover the curiosity I have for the history of the people and places closest to me. Furthermore, I have looked at power dressing, an influence for my ‘masculine womanswear’ collection, aiming to empower the customer through the use of clothing, not as you have seen it before.

"Like a Glove"
I have created stong, bold silhouettes in the hope that this feeling is replicated when worn, drawing together juxtaposing themes and aesthetics. However creating cohesiion in my collection - through design details, colours, silhouettes and fabrics, contrasting the ‘hards vs softs’. My customer and muse has been a driving force in the ‘vibe’ of the collection, creating an edgy, ‘cool girl’, ready to wear aesthetic, looking to fill her wardobe with sustainably sourced garments to last a lifetime.
